Menorca Olive Oil: Son Felip, Morvedra Nou and S’Olivaret Compared

14 Sep 2026 · 2 min de lectura

Menorca olive oil doesn’t have the reputation of other Spanish producing regions, but the island’s estates have been tending their groves for generations. We work with three — Son Felip, Morvedra Nou and S’Olivaret — and each has its own way of understanding oil.

Son Felip

One of the island’s reference estates, with a balanced oil profile — neither overly bitter nor overly mild. It’s the most versatile of the three: it works just as well raw, on bread or salad, as it does for cooking.

Morvedra Nou

Its oil has a more pronounced character, with herbaceous notes and a peppery finish typical of a freshly pressed quality extra virgin. It’s the choice for anyone looking for an oil with more personality to eat raw, where its flavour takes centre stage rather than blending into the rest of the dish.

S’Olivaret

A smaller, more artisan production, focused on limited quantities carefully handled at every stage, from harvest to pressing. The result is an oil with nuances that shift slightly from one harvest to the next — part of the charm of a genuinely estate-grown product.

How to choose based on use

  • For everyday cooking and dressing — Son Felip, for its balanced profile
  • To eat raw and really taste it — Morvedra Nou, with more character
  • To gift, or for someone who already appreciates good oil — S’Olivaret, for its limited production

All three are extra virgin olive oils from specific Menorcan estates, not industrial blends — which means you’ll notice flavour differences from one harvest to another, just like with a good wine.

How to store it

Keep the bottle somewhere cool and away from direct light — heat and sunlight are extra virgin olive oil’s main enemies, causing it to lose nuance and oxidise faster if exposed. Properly stored, it keeps its properties for months without issue.

Where to buy it

You’ll find all three oils at our shops in Mahón and Sant Climent. If you want to try more than one without committing to a large bottle of each, you can also include them in a personalized gourmet basket.
